Tree Day 🌳🌱
Here’s the stats part - 3400+ plants, 13 trees and a 3 digit turnout of volunteers from all over Perth, an amazing effort organised by @cityofperth.
But the part that stayed with me was the sound. Portuguese, Bahasa, Hindi, Cantonese, Mandarin, English, all of it shuffling past shoulder to shoulder, everyone with a sapling and a trowel in hand.
Together on Matagarup, Whadjuk Noongar country, which has been drawing people to the water’s edge for a lot longer than any of us have been here.
Turns out we don’t need a common language to plant a tree together.
We just need something worth digging.
