A much lighter month at the City after a marathon last month - these are my highlights to watch
🏢 Submission on AI Data Center
As AI and digital infrastructure become more central to the modern world, the City has been asked to make a submission to the senate, but have we taken the full scope into consideration? A server room is very different to a hyperscale facility and we may need to be more specific.
🗞️ Tamala Park landfill
Mindarie Regional Council has been knocked back on their plan to remediate and continue to landfill, and we’re 1/12th stakeholder in this plot. Alongside a proposed expansion to the definition of a reserve fund to capture remediation, it’s hard to reconcile the officers advice of ‘no direct financial implications’
🏉 Rugby World Cup
Over a million dollars are being asked of us to invest in hosting the World Cup, sporting events generate a lot of local economic activity, but surely there is capacity to expand beyond the CBD footprint… I can think of a few pubs in East and West Perth that would love to be a ‘Union House’ if given the opportunity.
