To the Councillors and Employees of the City of Perth:
Watching our City's drama unfold in the news is deeply concerning - not only for the integrity and reputation of our City, but for the health and safety of everyone involved.
I want to take this opportunity to clear the air.
The law of the land provides the correct pathways if anyone feels threatened, intimidated, or bullied in their place of work.
🏛️ FOR COUNCILLORS: Your port of call is the Local Government Inspector.
👥 FOR EMPLOYEES: Your port of call is the Industrial Relations Commission or the WorkSafe Inspector.
Everyone has a statutory rights to a safe workplace that cannot be bypassed.
Before we commit another ~$300,000 of ratepayers money on consultants and support, let's explore and exhaust the legislative pathways that already exist.
Know your rights. If you feel unsafe, pick up the phone to the right authority; only the right authority has the legal power to punish wrongdoers.
