Is there a term for urban planning envy?
Singapore is often praised for its social housing program and green architecture integration, but walking through the streets and these little things caught my attention:
🚪Open Door Button - most automatic doors facing pedestrian traffic have button to open; for a country built on aircon I can only imagine how much energy this is saving, our pedestrian malls are notoriously hot during summer, and dumping all that excess heat from compressors certainly hasn’t helped!
🚶♂️Senior Crossings - Many larger intersections are fitted with a seniors card scanner which adds time to the green light time - it’s both thoughtful and efficient.
Little design choices go a long way to make a place more pedestrian friendly, are there any cool designs you’ve come across while traveling?
