If you run a short-stay rental in the City of Perth, you might already be 'unlawful'.
The State Government gave Councils a deadline to update their rules by July 2025. South Perth got it done. Vincent got it done. We are only voting on it this Tuesday.
The Result? A "Regulatory Dead Zone" between Jan 1 (when State grace period ends) and April (when we expect our policy finally becomes law). During that gap, you legally require a permit that the City literally cannot give you.
No permit = Potential Insurance Void.
Why did we sit on this for 7 months? Is this a symptom of the chronic under-staffing crisis in our Administration? (Employee costs are millions under budget due to vacancies).
