If you'd missed my budget preview mini series - here is the roundup of the draft figures as we wait for final budget to drop this Friday.

1️⃣ 2.45% - the target rate rise. We're coming in less than half of other councils and WALGAs expectations, and well below inflation.

What services are gonna be on the chopping block?

2️⃣ 49% - while vacant land holders get a discount on last year's figures, around half of residential owners are being asked to cough up 5% or more this year.

Are we adding fuel to the housing crisis fire?

3️⃣ $2.78m - the shortfall on parking revenue if current global trends and projections continue.

Have we accounted for the ban on credit card surcharge coming in October?

4️⃣ 50 - the gap between the 704 full time staff we budget for and the 654 we actually hired last year.

Are we plugging the gap with contractors?

5️⃣ 34 - the number of deliverables in our Corporate Business Plan - down from 71 just two years ago. This is the one document we hold the entire organization to account.

In the absence of administrative stability, this keeps our City on track.

I'll be looking at these numbers closely when the budget papers get released.
