OCM 28 JUL 2026 · ITEM 12.1 · RES OCM-26/07-009
City of Perth Art Award (Notice of Motion OCM 25/03-035)
Carried 6–0
Amended motion establishing a City of Perth Creative Capital Fund with up to $100,000 for artwork acquisitions in alternate years from 2027/28, and City of Perth Art Awards with $170,000 in the other years, the first in 2029. Unspent funds go to a reserve.
What it changed. Turns the officer's $100,000-a-year acquisitions fund (which dropped the Art Award) into a biennial program: acquisitions of up to $100,000 in alternate years from 2027/28 and a City of Perth Art Awards with $170,000 in the other years, first held in the 2029 commemorative program.
Reasons given in the minutes. • The amendment achieves one biennial program, with a dedicated acquisition round in one year and the City of Perth Art Awards in the alternate year. • Adds greater scope, value and opportunity • Allows for two complementary outcomes: a Civic Collection that grows with intent, and a civic occasion that gathers the community around our city's cultural excellence • Takes on the officers advice around costs
