Notice of Motion: ‘Light It Up’ ProgramUnanimousMember’s motionCarried 9–0. In line with the promise: a Yes vote.
Why
Approves the 'Light It Up' program of seven permanent light artworks to improve lighting levels in laneways, funded $280,000 from the budget surplus (minutes p26-27).
What it changed. Alternate motion to the officer's version: installs the seven permanent light artworks as soon as possible with $280,000 from the current surplus, instead of $10,000 now and $270,000 in the 2021/22 budget with delivery by December 2021.
Reasons given in the minutes. To make a great City we need big ideas and small. A vivid style festival in Perth is a great big idea, as is a City-wide lighting plan. However, these big ideas will take millions of dollars and, most likely, several years to implement.
