Notice of Motion: ‘Light It Up’ Program
Carried 9–0
Approves Stage One of the 'Light It Up' program: seven permanent light artworks in laneways, one in each neighbourhood precinct where feasible, using local artists, funded by reallocating $280,000 from the budget surplus.
What it changed. Alternate motion to the officer's version: installs the seven permanent light artworks as soon as possible with $280,000 from the current surplus, instead of $10,000 now and $270,000 in the 2021/22 budget with delivery by December 2021.
Reasons given in the minutes. To make a great City we need big ideas and small. A vivid style festival in Perth is a great big idea, as is a City-wide lighting plan. However, these big ideas will take millions of dollars and, most likely, several years to implement.
