Draft Tree Retention on Private Property Local Planning Policy: Crawley-Nedlands NeighbourhoodCarried 8–1. In line with the promise: a Yes vote.
Why

Draft Tree Retention on Private Property Local Planning Policy: Crawley-Nedlands NeighbourhoodAmendmentCarried 5–4. In line with the promise: a Yes vote.
Why
Broadening the regulated-tree definition brings more private trees under protection (p34; reasons p35), which is a vote to protect trees under C6.
Reasons given in the minutes. 1. The amendment broadens the definition of a regulated tree while retaining a practical, proportionate thresholds. 2. The use of “and/or”: as per the WALGA model policy: recognises the height, canopy and trunk are significant variables: and that any one should be sufficient to trigger tree protection. 3. The amendment brings the City into line with the City of Nedlands, the most directly comparable neighbouring local government. 4. The amendment is particularly appropriate in Crawley-Nedlands. 5. The amendment does not impose a blanket restriction. 6. The amendment is a measured but important strengthening of the draft policy.
