Event Sponsorship Round 1 2021/22Carried 5–3. In line with the promise: a No vote.
Why
The Festival of Sail is staged at Elizabeth Quay and Perth Waters, so cutting its sponsorship reduces support for activating the riverfront (p.36).
What it changed. Reduces the Western Australian Yachting Foundation sponsorship for the City of Perth Festival of Sail from $30,000 to $10,000.
Reasons given in the minutes. The event does not deliver the return Council is seeking, noting that sailing is not necessarily a spectator sport. Whilst sailors are commended for doing great work, it is not a sport that activates the City like the other events Council is considering.

30 MAR 2021
Community Development Alliance ReportsCarried 7–1. In line with the promise: a Yes vote.
Why
Approves a $139,000 City grant to extend the publicly accessible On the Point jetty at Point Fraser to activate the riverfront, against an officer recommendation to decline (p48).
What it changed. Amended alternate motion: approves the grant the officers recommended declining, subject to the asset being maintained to the City's satisfaction.
Reasons given in the minutes. To ensure the City supports the activation of the Point Fraser precinct and consistently awards grants and sponsorships.
Note. The officers recommended declining the grant as outside the program guidelines; the applicant is a private company and the jetty sits in the Swan River precinct managed by the State (p45). The mover's printed reason was 'to ensure the City supports the activation of the Point Fraser precinct' (p47).
