OCM 28 MAR 2023 · ITEM 12.1 · NO RESOLUTION NUMBER
Local Heritage Survey
Carried 3–3 on the presiding member's casting vote
Amendment adopting the Local Heritage Survey but excluding 16 properties, among them 21 and 23 Rheola Street and several Outram Street properties in West Perth, and 324-332 and 370-372 Murray Street, Perth.
What it changed. Adopts the Local Heritage Survey but excludes 16 places whose owners objected, including 21 and 23 Rheola Street, 69 Mount Street, 324-332 Murray Street, 989 Wellington Street and 201-207 William Street.
Reasons given in the minutes. This Heritage Survey: although confusing because of its name, is only a survey. A database if you like or a place of record. Accordingly, and given the objections from those representing the property owners of the properties mentioned to being on this database, taking them off will not negatively impact the heritage our City. Again. It is just a database. And as we heard in the chamber last week, being on the database will have no bearing with any certainty one way or the other in regards to the heritage treatment of that property. I therefore ask my fellow Councillors to support my notice of alternate motion.
